"Schrapnell aus dem Märchenland" by Australian born New York artist Ian Burns
Show running from 25 February – 10 April 2010
The show flips between the real arctic and the imagined - reality versus artificiality- it provokes curiosity. We all think we know the Arctic well - or at least know something about by having watched numerous news reports and documentations on tv. Ian Burns' works deal with that issue and translate an actual arctic experience contrary to the expected and consistently repeated cliches. The experiences portrayed are based on Burns' trip to the arctic last October. Between this flippings are positioned works that play on found object phenomenology - so called readymades.
